Genesis 7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month,
the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Genesis 8:14
And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month,
the earth was dried.
When floods happen they usually only last a few days, maybe a month, but the flood took over one year before it was safe to walk on the land again - it must have been HUGE!
Today whenever you look at a mountain you can remember that it is there because of the flood God sent. If you live on an island, the island is there because of the flood. The grand canyon and so many other things are here for us to see that long ago God punished mankind for his wickedness and one day God will destroy the world again, only this time He will destroy it with fire.
2 Peter 3:6-7
. . . the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
But the heavens and the earth
. . . are reserved for fire until the day of judgment . . . of ungodly men.
The good news is that like in the days of Noah, there is a way to be saved from God's judgement. Noah needed to build an ark, when he obeyed, God saved him in it. Today you do not need to build anything, God did all the work, you just need to receive Him for yourself click here to find out how.
