If you believe God made the world, then you have to follow His rules because He is in charge. Some people want to do what they want and not obey God's rules. This means they cannot believe that God made them, so they find other reasons to explain how everything got here.
II Peter 3:3-6
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days . . . For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old . . . the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
These verses describe how before Jesus returns people will be "scoffing" or making fun of God. They will choose to not believe two things: that God created the world and that He punished the world with a great flood.
